The Ambassador of India in Poland, Ms. Nagma Mohamed Mallick, visited the International Centre for Cancer Vaccine Science at the University of Gdańsk on 4^th September 2023.

The Ambassador was welcomed by Professor Sylwia Mrozowska, Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Development at the University of Gdańsk, Professor Natalia Marek-Trzonkowska, Director of the International Centre for Cancer Vaccine Science and Doctor Sachin Kote, who was initiator of the meeting.

The Ambassador had an opportunity to learn about the research focus of the Centre as well as to visit research laboratories. The Ambassador Ms. Nagma Mohamed Mallick expressed her appreciation to the research results on the therapy of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and the dynamic development of the ICCVS, whose researchers have submitted 9 patent applications over the last 3 years to the European Patent Office.

The Ambassador also voiced her gratitude for the role of women in science and her support for initiatives that help eliminate inequalities between researchers, such as the family room created at the ICCVS.

The cooperation between the University of Gdańsk and India has a long history. Our academia works together with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (cooperation agreement for the whole university), the P. Jindal Global University (cooperation agreement for the whole university), the Xavier Labour Relations Institute (cooperation agreement with the Faculty of Economics), the Chandigarh University and the Manipal University Jaipur (cooperation agreements with the Faculty of Law and Administration).

A similar cooperation agreement is going to be signed by the ICCVS and Valnizen Healthcare India.

Moreover, in the academic year 2022/2023, 29 Indian citizens studied at the University of Gdańsk in full-time mode studies, including 10 PhD students in Doctoral Schools, 1  Ph.D. student and 18 master’s degree students in full-time mode studies (in the fields of International Business, Business Informatics, Quantum Information Technology, Management, Digital Chemistry).

At the ICCVS, Indian citizens conduct research at all levels of their scientific careers, and cooperation with India is intensified and covers both the public and business sectors.
