From 15–17 September 2026, ICCVS participated in the 3rd BEING SEA-EU Conference, hosted by the University of Gdańsk. The conference – the flagship scientific event of the SEA-EU Alliance, brought together researchers and research support professionals from across Europe to exchange knowledge, strengthen collaboration and discuss key challenges facing the European Research Area. Over three days, the programme featured more than 100 presentations and discussions covering climate and coastal research, health, biotechnology, digital education, green finance and the blue economy.
ICCVS at BEING SEA-EU
During the opening session, Prof. Natalia Maria Marek- Trzonkowska presented the Centre’s work on personalised cell therapy, in particular the research behind the flagship projects SWIFT (Science for Welfare, Innovations and Forceful Therapies). She also showcased ICCVS’s international and intersectoral collaborations.
The SWIFT project is financed in the frame of the International Research Agenda programme (IRAP) of the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) financed by the European Funds for a Smart Economy 2021-2027 (FENG), Priority FENG.02 Innovation-friendly environment, Measure FENG.02.01 International Research Agendas.
Prof. Marek-Trzonkowska also highlighted ICCVS’s achievements in new discoveries. Between 2020 and 2023, ICCVS filed nine patent applications, three of which have already resulted in granted patent protection.
ICCVS was also represented in the session “Institutional Governance, Research Collaboration and Research Management” by Izabela Raszczyk and Dominika Butkiewicz, who presented their contribution: “Strengthening intersectoral collaboration – how can career development of RMAs contribute?”.
Their presentation focused on the ERA-Shuttle project, implemented at the University of Gdańsk by ICCVS. ERA-Shuttle is a Horizon Europe project supporting research and innovation talent through new skills, international mobility, secondments and stronger collaboration between academic and non-academic sectors.
The presentation highlighted the role of Research Managers and Administrators (RMAs) and demonstrated how investing in their professional development can strengthen institutional capacity, facilitate knowledge transfer and build more effective cross-sector collaboration across Europe.
Participation in the 3rd BEING SEA-EU Conference provided an opportunity to present ICCVS’s research, innovation and research management activities within the international SEA-EU community and to contribute to discussions on the future of research collaboration in Europe.
