Prof. Natalia Marek-Trzonkowska Among the Top 10 Women in Biotech in Poland

We are proud to announce that Prof. Natalia Marek-Trzonkowska, Director of our Centre, has been recognized among the Top 10 Women in Biotech in Poland during the Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit 2026.

Prof. Marek-Trzonkowska received the award in the ‘Biotech for a Better World’ category in recognition of her pioneering research on the therapeutic application of regulatory T cells (Tregs) in type 1 diabetes and her contributions to the development of innovative cancer immunotherapies.

This distinction highlights the scientific achievements of Prof. Marek-Trzonkowska and the impact of the research conducted at ICCVS, where multidisciplinary teams work to translate advances in immunology into novel therapeutic solutions. One of the Centre’s flagship initiatives is the Science for Welfare, Innovations and Forceful Therapies (SWIFT) project, funded with PLN 30 million under the International Research Agendas programme of the Foundation for Polish Science. The project aims to develop a personalized T-cell therapy for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and advance it to the clinical trial stage.

Receiving the award, Prof. Marek-Trzonkowska emphasized the importance of collaboration, perseverance, and enthusiasm in scientific research:

“It is a great honour to become chosen to the team of 100 women researchers in biotechnology. Today morning I had a pleasure to meet them and to chat with them and I can tell you they are wonderful persons with variety of skills and expertise.

So I think the future of biotech is really bright and new discoveries are on their way

But if you ask me what brought my reserach, research of my team to the point where we are today – I need to cite Winston Churchill who said that

“Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm”.

So unsinkable enthusiasm and cold blood in front of challenges are of great importance in research and in dealing with most of the issues in daily life. Thank you “.

The Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit is one of Europe’s largest events dedicated to women in STEM, bringing together thousands of researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and technology leaders. The recognition of Prof. Marek-Trzonkowska among the country’s leading biotechnology experts underscores the growing international visibility of research carried out at ICCVS and its contribution to advancing biotechnology and cancer research.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Prof. Natalia Marek-Trzonkowska and all members of the ICCVS team whose dedication and scientific excellence make achievements such as this possible.
