Prof. Natalia Marek-Trzonkowska, Director of ICCVS, participated in the XVI Summer Oncology Academy for Journalists held on 19–21 August 2026 in Warsaw.
The three-day event brought together journalists covering medicine and healthcare with experts in oncology and other fields. The aim of the Academy is to support reliable and accessible reporting on cancer, provide journalists with an opportunity to discuss current developments directly with experts, and promote evidence-based knowledge about cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
As part of the programme, Prof. Marek-Trzonkowska delivered a lecture entitled “Cancer vaccines – opportunities or just promises?”, focusing on the current state and future potential of cancer vaccines.
Participation in the event provided an opportunity to discuss how emerging developments in cancer research can be communicated accurately and responsibly. Clear communication about what is already supported by scientific evidence, what remains under investigation, and what challenges are still to be solved is an important part of contributing to public understanding of novel cancer therapies.
The conference was organised by the Dr Maciej Hilgier Foundation, in collaboration with the Polish League Against Cancer. Media patronage was provided by the Zwrotnik Raka portal.
