EEBG 2026 Bioinformatics Summer School

Between June 29 and July 5, 2026 Martyna Siewiera, a researcher at ICCVS, participated in the Eastern European Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics Workshop (EEBG 2026), organized by the Małopolska Centre of Biotechnology at Jagiellonian University in Kraków.

The six-day programme combined expert lectures, hands-on workshops and discussions with bioinformatics specialists from diverse scientific backgrounds, providing participants with an opportunity to expand their knowledge and gain practical experience in computational genomics.

“I enjoyed every thematic day of the conference, which has broadened my perspective of bioinformatic methods applied in different scientific areas. Having background in proteogenomics, the computational biology, biomedicine, population studies and transcriptomics parts of the summer school were the most precious ones. I had an opportunity to perform tasks in AGH’s Academic Computer Centre Cyfronet PLGrid infrastructure, specifically on the Athena supercomputer, chance to familiarize myself with gene scoring and pathway enrichment in biomedical studies and learn about a necessity for population-based genomic maps for future medicine. Lectures about contemporary biological databases and biomedical cohort projects were also invaluable and eye-opening. The speakers and teaching staff were a good fit and were very eager to discuss their research and experience.” – Martyna Siewiera says.

Martyna was awarded a scholarship to attend the workshop in person, recognizing her motivation and commitment to advancing her expertise in bioinformatics.

“Many thanks to the organizers, who decided to award me with a scholarship to attend the event in-person and who put together a valuable conference for undergraduate and postgraduate students with interest in bioinformatics. I highly recommend anyone curious to participate in future editions of EEBG. See you next year!”

Participation in international training events such as EEBG reflects ICCVS’s commitment to supporting the continuous professional development of its researchers and fostering interdisciplinary expertise in computational biology and biomedical research.
