Dr Anna Biernacka presents at the 1st EV4 Conference in Budapest

Last week, our researcher Dr Anna Biernacka, presented her research at the 1st EV4 – Extracellular Vesicles in Visegrad Collaboration conference, held on 21–22 October 2026 in Budapest, Hungary.

Her presentation addressed the challenges involved in isolating tissue-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) from non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) samples. She highlighted the importance of selecting an appropriate isolation method when working with this type of biological material.

The EV4 conference brought together researchers from the Czech, Polish, Slovak and Hungarian scientific communities working on extracellular vesicles, as well as researchers from the wider scientific community. The meeting provided a platform for exchanging knowledge, sharing research findings and fostering scientific collaboration across the region, with a particular focus on supporting early-career researchers.

Reflecting on her experience, dr Anna Biernacka shared:

“I really enjoyed exploring new perspectives on EV biology – from the role of the EV membrane and the influence of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) on the EV corona to the factors shaping EV miRNA cargo. But some of the most inspiring moments happened outside the lecture hall, during conversations with fellow researchers. These discussions sparked new ideas and left me even more excited to explore the role of EVs in cancer biology. A big thank you to all the organizers and participants for creating such an inspiring meeting!”

Dr Anna Biernacka’s participation in the conference was supported through Science for Welfare, Innovations and Forceful Therapies (SWIFT) project.

The SWIFT project is funded under the International Research Agendas (IRAP) programme of the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP), with support from the European Funds for a Smart Economy 2021–2027 (FENG), Priority FENG.02 Innovation-friendly environment, Measure FENG.02.01 International Research Agendas.
