The ERA-Shuttle projectinvites researchers and research managers and administrators (RMAs) to the ERA-Shuttle Summer School 2026, organised during 5-9 October 2026 bythe University of Malta Valletta Campus.
The 5-day event, focused on “Career and Personal Growth for Human-Centric Leadership in the European Research Area (ERA)”, will explore how research, innovation and entrepreneurship are evolving in an era increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, while focusing on the human skills, strategic capabilities and cross-sectoral collaboration needed to navigate these changes.
The programme combines expert sessions, practical workshops and peer exchange, covering topics related to career development, strategic research leadership, AI in higher education, responsible use of AI and large language models, research mobility, knowledge transfer and valorisation.
About the ERA-Shuttle project
ERA-Shuttle (Accelerating ERA by Sharing Unique Talents for healThy Life and Environment) is a Horizon Europe project that strengthens research and innovation capacity in the European Research Area by supporting talent development, knowledge exchange and collaboration between academia and non-academic organisations. Thematically focused primarily on health and environment, the project targets scientists and research managers who can benefit from the ERA Shuttle activities.
The project is coordinated by the University of Split (Croatia) and brings together partners from across Europe, including the University of Gdańsk (Poland), University of Malta (Malta), Steinbeis Wissens-und Transfer GmbH (Germany), CERIC-ERIC – Central European Research Infrastructure Consortium (Italy), ASTP – Association of European Science and Technology Transfer Professionals (the Netherlands), Schiller & Mertens GbR (Germany) and AcrossLimits Ltd. (Malta). The UG project team is led by Izabela Raszczyk (ICCVS) and Dominika Butkiewicz (ICCVS) is in charge of the project management.

The event is particularly relevant for RMAs working at the intersection of research, innovation, research management, knowledge transfer and institutional development, as well as for researchers, in particular from the disciplines health and environment, interested in developing their skills.
