New PhD awarded at ICCVS

ICCVS researcher Ashwin Kallor has been awarded a doctoral degree. On 10.12.2025, he successfully defended his dissertation entitled “Development of computational methods for the high-throughput analysis of immunopeptidomic data and their applications to artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled precision medicine”, earning a PhD in Medical and Health Sciences, in the discipline of Medical Sciences. 

His research focused on the development of proteogenomic algorithms for antigen and vaccine target discovery. The project was carried out at the ICCVS under the supervision of Prof. dr hab. Karol Połom from the Medical University of Gdańsk, with scientific guidance from Dr Javier Alfaro, Assistant Professor in Data Science and Health Research at the University of Calgary, who previously worked at our Centre. 

The reviewers of the dissertation were Prof Virginia Boccardi (University of Perugia), Prof Stefano Persano (University of Milan Statale), and Prof David Saliba (University of Malta). 

We extend our warmest congratulations to Dr Ashwin Kallor on this significant academic achievement. The ICCVS team wishes him continued success and inspiration in his future scientific endeavours. His work strengthens the research excellence and innovative potential of our Centre.
